Rebecca Ramsay

Rebecca Ramsay Scholarship Fund

Who it serves

The Rebecca Ramsay Scholarship Fund was established to fund full scholarships for young people (ages 18 and under) to take classes such as Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor Training, CPR, First Aid, and Babysitter Training, and who are economically disadvantaged (in other words, whose family cannot afford class fees).

About Rebecca

Rebecca was murdered in 2000 as she was returning home after a bible study class. Rebecca was a Red Cross lifeguard who loved children and held a promising future. Her family has established this fund in her memory to help others follow in Rebecca’s path of caring and competence.

What’s involved

Applicants will be asked to fill out an application form and write a short essay telling us about themselves and how this training will make a difference in their lives. Applicants will also agree to make themselves available to the American Red Cross for any publicity and public speaking engagements, identified as a scholarship recipient.

GirlScouts

Heart & Health Scholarship Fund

Who it serves

This fund provides full scholarships for registered Girl Scouts only, to cover the tuition of any land-based Health & Safety Classes (such as CPR, First Aid, Babysitting, etc.). Sorry, but the fund does not provide scholarships for water based classes such as water safety instruction or lifeguarding.

What's involved

Applicants will be asked to fill out an application form and write a short essay telling us about themselves and how this training will make a difference in their lives. Applicants will also agree to make themselves available to the American Red Cross for any publicity and public speaking engagements, identified as a scholarship recipient. Applicants will also need to offer proof of Girl Scout affliliation (incl. youth, leaders, lifetime members, adult affiliates) and verification from the Sahuaro Girl Scout Council.
